Aspen Snowmass

Who is Ski Aspen?
Ski Aspen is an Australian based ski tour operator that specialises in guided and instructional ski tours in Aspen Colorado. Founded in 1995, we’ve now been operating our Aspen ski tours for 23 years.

What style of accommodation can I expect?
We offer standard, deluxe and premium rated units across all our tours. We can provide luxury accommodation packages upon request. All our units feature spacious living rooms, fully equipped kitchens and open fireplace. Cable TV and regular house-keeping services are also included. Most of our units are 2 bedroom/2 bathroom and the advertised tour price is based on twin share. A single accommodation supplement is available upon request.

How does the tour program work?
We provide a 10-day fully guided and instructional on-snow program during each 15-night tour. On these days you’ll ski with your guide/instructor for 5 hours. Whilst our emphasis is on ‘guiding’, our qualified instructors will also teach you plenty along the way. The on-snow program also includes two ‘Specialty Days’ which are extremely popular. On these days we tailor specific sessions to work on any particular area of your skiing you’d like to improve (e.g. bumps, steeps, carving).

How many free days do I get?
Guests on our 15-night Ski Aspen tours will enjoy 3 full free days to ski or explore Aspen as they wish.

How good do I have to be?
Our tours cater for intermediate and above level skiers/snowboarders who can comfortably ski/ride blue runs.

How do I go about arranging my flights?
While we don’t organise your flights, we can assist you with any questions you might have in relation to getting to Aspen, internal connections and the like. We also have great partner deals in place with Delta Air Lines and Virgin Australia so be sure to ask us about these.

Can I hire skis and other equipment in Aspen?
Yes, skis and other hire equipment are readily available at a variety of outlets and shops in Aspen. We take time to assist and advise all guests that need to hire skis and other personal equipment and we work with a number of retail outlets that offer our guests special discounts.

I’m a single traveller, do your tours cater for me?
Of course. Our tours cater for singles, couples and families. Accommodation is provided on a twin share basis however single supplements are available.

How many guests and guides are on each tour?
On average we’ll have 20-30 guests on each tour. Our guide/instructor to skier ratio (1:6 or better) is the best in the business and it’s a big reason our guests keep returning.

Do I need insurance and what type of cover should I get?
We do require our guests to be adequately insured in order to participate on our tours. Most travel insurance policies cover skiing but we’ll happily suggest a suitable policy should you require assistance.

How cold does it get in Aspen?
A typical ski day during January / February in Aspen will be in the minus 5 to minus 10 degrees celsius range. That said, we experience a very ‘dry’ cold in Colorado and at this temperature, the ski days are very comfortable and usually sunny. Some days are known to reach the minus 18 to minus 20 mark but these are very infrequent and we usually experience only one day like this each tour.
