Aspen news and events to get excited about

There’s been nearly 20cm’s of fresh snow in Aspen in the last 24 hours – and that makes us very happy! As we count down the days, here’s some Aspen news and events to look forward to on your 2015 Ski Aspen Tour.

While those of us in Australia were enjoying sunshine and BBQ’s over the weekend, the big Aspen news is that Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk have opened.

Aspen Highlands has all lifts open for the winter and that also means the woks and grills are firing up in the Merry-go-round restaurant, while the champagne is chilling at Cloud Nine. Exciting times ahead indeed!

Buttermilk is now open with top to bottom skiing and is always a great place to spend your first day on-snow to warm up for the ski adventures ahead!

Ajax (Aspen Mountain) has opened up more terrain, meaning over 40 trails and 5 lifts are ours to enjoy! And there’s no better way to finish a day on Ajax than by stopping in at the Ajax Tavern for a drink and some good food.

Snowmass has opened up 1015 acres of terrain now… thats huge! Our favourite runs and venues are open for skiing, lunch and apres so really, all we need to do now is get there!

All of this Aspen news means the Aspen winter is well and truly underway! With all four mountains open for skiing and more snow in the forecast, conditions should keep getting better and better!

Another huge event that always makes Aspen news is The X Games. The event returns to Aspen this winter crossing over our Tour 1 and Tour 2 dates. From 22 – 25 January, you’ll have the opportunity to catch the world’s best on-snow action, music and festivals. With over 300 athletes and Olympians going head to head, prepare an exciting, fun and fierce competition! Based at Buttermilk, the X Games are completely free, so make sure go and see some of the action!

Check out this time-lapse video of the X Games setup and you’ll begin to see just how big this event really is!

No matter which Ski Aspen Tour you’ve chosen, you’ll discover that Aspen has so much entertainment both on and off the snow. If you like being busy once the slopes have closed for the day, then you’ll not be disappointed!

We’ll continue to update you with more exciting Aspen news and events over the coming weeks!
