Planning your next ski holiday often starts with finding the place you want to go and picking the time of year to visit. So when is the best time to ski Aspen?
Our tours run from early January into March. This period spans quiet times and great conditions as well as many events both on and off the slopes.
Take our Tour 1 dates (Jan 8 – Jan 23) for example. Early January is the best time to ski Aspen if you want quiet slopes yet a vibrant town. The busy Christmas and New Years period is over and most American and Northern hemisphere schools have finished their Christmas break. So if having the slopes to yourself is a dream, then early January could be the time for you.
Tour 2 (Jan 23 – Feb 7) is the best time to ski Aspen to witness one of the most famous snow events in the world – the Winter X Games, held at Buttermilk. This is the time to visit if you want to see dare devils on skis, snowboards and snowmobiles as well as join in concerts and parties around Aspen. Even though there’s all this action, the slopes are still far from crowded and there is great snow.
Tour 3 (Feb 7 – Feb 22) is through a time where the snow is great, the days are getting longer and a major USA holiday occurs. All of these things mean there is plenty of action on the slopes and a real buzz around town. It’s an exciting time to visit Aspen and there’s still barely a lift line anywhere.
Tour 4 dates (Feb 22 – Mar 9) take us towards spring, where a huge variety of skiing throughout the day and an exciting après vibe combine together perfectly. The snow conditions remain great all day and as the lifts close and day turns to night, there is plenty to see and do.
