It’s a tour we’ve spent the last two years developing properly.
Over the past two seasons, we have travelled extensively throughout Lake Tahoe, skied the mountains, examined accommodation options, refined transport logistics, explored the villages, and worked through every detail needed to create a tour experience that genuinely fits the Ski Aspen model.
Most importantly, we have already completed successful test runs with two groups of longtime Ski Aspen guests and the feedback has been incredibly positive.
The result is a ski holiday that delivers the same trusted Ski Aspen experience, now applied to one of the most scenic and underrated ski regions in North America.
A New Chapter for Ski Aspen
Our new Lake Tahoe ski tour combines incredible skiing, spectacular scenery, premium accommodation, and exceptional value across a 16-night itinerary.
The tour has been carefully designed around two distinct parts of the Tahoe experience.
The first six nights are based at Northstar California Resort, where guests stay in spacious condominium style accommodation surrounded by alpine village atmosphere, perfectly groomed terrain, and relaxed mountain charm.
The final ten nights are based at Heavenly Mountain Resort, combining huge lake views, vibrant après energy, outstanding skiing, and easy access to restaurants, bars, shops, and entertainment.
Together, the combination works beautifully.
Northstar gives guests the chance to settle into the rhythm of the trip in a relaxed alpine setting, while Heavenly delivers a completely different energy and atmosphere later in the tour.
Why We Chose Lake Tahoe
Lake Tahoe surprised us.
Like many Australian skiers, we’d always known the name. But until we truly explored the region properly, we didn’t fully appreciate how much it offers.
The skiing variety is exceptional.
Guests can ski across multiple resorts including:
- Northstar California Resort
- Heavenly Mountain Resort
- Kirkwood Mountain Resort
- Palisades Tahoe
- Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort
Each mountain brings something completely different to the experience.
Some deliver wide groomed cruisers and a vibrant ski village feel. Others offer steeper terrain, big mountain feel, or stunning lake views. All deliver legendary snowfall and conditions.
The scenery itself is another standout.
Few ski destinations anywhere in the world combine major alpine terrain with the breathtaking beauty of a vast alpine lake. Skiing high above Lake Tahoe on a bluebird day, with panoramic views stretching across the water and surrounding mountains, is an experience that genuinely sets Tahoe apart.
There is also an atmosphere around Tahoe that simply feels relaxed and welcoming.
It’s less formal than many traditional US ski destinations while still delivering excellent accommodation, great dining, vibrant après skiing, and outstanding mountain infrastructure. And something most people don’t know is that Lake Tahoe is home to the largest concentration of ski resorts in North America with a total of 11 alpine resorts to choose from.

At Heavenly, guests stay at Margaritaville Resort at South Lake Tahoe, located just a short walk from the Heavenly Gondola.
Guests also have the option to upgrade to the luxurious Zalanta Resort at the Village condominiums for an even more premium Heavenly experience.
