For Families

Introduced in 2010, our Aspen family packages are officially a hit. We take care of everything for the kids with an emphasis on daily transfers and supervision to and from ski school. All you need to do is get your kids ready in the morning then hand them over to us. We promise to return your little treasures all skied out at the end of the day! We also assist with afternoon and evening child-minding arrangements and organise plenty of other kids activities too.

With our team taking care of the kids, parents are able to ski in our on-snow groups without losing valuable chunks of their own ski time. Careful planning has gone into the structure of our January family packages to ensure you’ll also enjoy plenty of opportunity to ski together. Our Aspen family packages are an all-inclusive program that run for 10 or 15 nights. For adults during this time, we operate a fully guided and instructional on-snow program. On these days you’ll ski with your instructor for up to 5 hours per day.

The best in Aspen Family Packages

While personalised group skiing is our core product, our family tours are renowned for much more. With perfectly located accommodation, dedicated staff on hand 24/7 and an instructor to skier ratio of 1:6 or better, we are the industry benchmark for Aspen family ski holidays.

And for the kids… we organise their daily on-snow program around the needs and wants of your family. You only pay for the amount of ski lessons you want. On these days our staff will collect, supervise and travel with your children to the kids ski school at Buttermilk or Snowmass.  And we’ll bring them home again at the end of the ski day! For parents that like to enjoy the après scene, we’ll bring your kids to where you are or arrange child-minding. Absolutely everything is taken care of.

The goal of our family tours is to ensure families get all the time they need together on and off-snow. We create the perfect environment for parents and kids to enjoy their own skiing.

Our 10 and 15-night itineraries all follow a similar schedule. Below is a 15-night sample itinerary.

Day 1: Arrival Day
Welcome to Aspen. No matter what time your flight lands, our in-resort hosts will be at the airport to greet
you and your family. You’ll then be transferred in our private cars to your accommodation. This day is designed to be easy going after your long journey to get to Aspen. Take it easy, relax and settle into your accommodation.

Day 2: Welcome & Orientation
We start today by getting everyone together for a meet and greet. Then the kids head off separately with our kids team to begin the fun and games. You’ll receive your lift passes and learn more about the days to come. This is also the time to get any rental equipment or arrange your new FREE skis from Aspen Sports. In the afternoon we offer an optional ‘find your ski legs’  warm up. This is a gentle ski on Aspen Mountain for anyone interested in making a few turns. From 7pm you’ll enjoy a welcome party hosted by Aspen Sports in their main store.  Free beer, wine (soft drink for the kids) and food is combined with expert advice and exclusive deals for Ski Aspen guests.

Day 3: The on-snow program begins – Skiing Buttermilk
Your in-resort hosts and the kids team will meet everyone and then we’ll head to Buttermilk, where adults meet our team of instructors. Before the adults start skiing, you’ll go through the kids check-in process with our dedicated supervisors and the kids ski school. It’s important for parents to see our routine with the kids on day 1 so they can be confident we’re taking great care of them.

Once the kids have met their instructors, you’ll spend the day skiing Buttermilk, getting properly warmed up and preparing for the big days ahead. Our on-snow groups are very flexible. Initially divided by ability, speed and daring – you’ll have the opportunity to swap groups on a daily basis to push yourself or take it easy. Group sizes are capped at 6 guests per instructor. Lunch is at The Cliffhouse restaurant where the Mongolian Grill is a favourite. After skiing, return home and prepare for another welcome party – this time courtesy of Frias Properties of Aspen. Food and drinks are supplied and it’s another great opportunity to get to know the group.

Day 4: Skiing Aspen Highlands
Kids: Today you’ll say goodbye to Mum and Dad at the kids meeting place. You’ll jump on the bus with our kids supervisors and head to Buttermilk. Here you’ll ski with your instructor for the day. At the end of the day our team will pick you up and either take you home to your condo or bring you to après at Highlands to meet your parents.

Adults: Today you’ll head to the base of Aspen Highlands to meet your instructors/guides. Be challenged on this fantastic mountain – the locals favourite – then take a well-earned break for lunch at the Merry-Go-Round restaurant. You’ll finish the ski day with our traditional après event hosted by the Ski Aspen team at the base of the mountain – food and drinks supplied.

Day 5: Skiing Aspen Mountain
It’s time for a new adventure and today you’re off to Snowmass with our team. It’s a new mountain and that means a whole lot of exploring!

Adults: Nicknamed Ajax, you’ll meet your instructors/guides at the base of the Silver Queen Gondola. Grab a free coffee for the ride up and take in the views. Explore all that Ajax has to offer and meet for lunch at the Sundeck restaurant. If there’s time in the afternoon, a pit stop at Bonnies is a must for the very special deserts. Tonight is a free evening with no planned après events. But as you’re skiing on Ajax, you’ll no doubt join our team when you finish skiing in one (or maybe two) of the best après venues in town! Ajax Tavern, The Little Nell and Sky Bar are all on your way home!

Day 6: Free day
Today is a day for you and your family. Take a day off-snow and explore the town, go shopping, or visit one or more of the cafes, restaurants or bars. If you’d prefer to ski, choose your mountain and away you go. Often guests will get together on the free days to ski or enjoy the town. There are always plenty of options whatever you decide.

Day 7: Skiing Snowmass
Kids: Today we all travel to Snowmass together. Once we arrive you’ll head to ski school with our team while Mum and Dad meet their instructors at the end of the Mall. At the end of the day you’ll get to play games and hang out with your new friends at our Snowmass après party.

Adults: Today you’ll meet your instructors/guides on-snow at the end of the Snowmass Mall. This mountain is big. So big you could fit all three of Aspen’s other mountains into it. Not surprisingly then, today is a solid day of exploring. Generally you’ll start skiing on the Elk Camp side of Snowmass then slowly work your way across. By the time you reach the other side, it’s lunchtime – and where better to eat than Sam’s Smokehouse. The staff here even save us tables so Ski Aspen guests will never need to hunt for seats. Our ski day finishes back at the Snowmass Mall where we enjoy yet another après event – this time hosted by the Aspen Skiing Company. Food and drinks are provided courtesy of Aspen Ski Co to say thanks for choosing Ski Aspen.

Day 8: Skiing Aspen Highlands
Kids: Today it’s back to Buttermilk to test our your skills on all the jumps, bumps and awesome terrain that Buttermilk has for kids. Heaps of exploring in the trees is a must.

Adults: Today you’ll re-visit Aspen Highlands and take on some of the terrain that you didn’t get to last week. And today is the day for those who want to hike the famous Highland Bowl. Take the Loge Peak chairlift, then the snowcat as high as it’ll go. Then it’s time for a 30-40 minute hike to the summit of Highland Peak. This experience is one not to miss because what goes up must come down… and it’s a long way down! Skiing from the top of the Highland Bowl is the quintessential Aspen experience.

Tonight is a free evening. By now, many of our guests will be socialising together outside of the organised après events. So enjoy a night out with others or maybe a quiet night at home.

Day 9: Skiing Snowmass
You’re jumping back on the bus with Mum and Dad today to Snowmass. By now you’re learning how the biggest of Aspen’s mountains links together and you’ll get to ski your favourite runs all day.

Adults: Today you’re back at Snowmass and scratching the surface of this ginourmous mountain again. Take on “Long Shot” for a mid-morning adventure or challenge yourself on “Powderhorn”. Lunch today is at Elk Camp. At the end of the ski day, there’s another après party.  Yep you guessed it, food and drinks supplied!

Day 10: Skiing Aspen Mountain
Kids: Another Buttermilk day awaits. Today is about exploring all the terrain that you still haven’t skied. Buttermilk has lots of hidden adventure areas for kids to ski so you’ve got a big day ahead.

Adults: Back on Ajax and and you’ve got the routine dialled. Free coffee when meeting the team at the gondola and up you go. Lunch is again at the Sundeck restaurant and yep, après on the way home is too hard to pass up – it’s Aspen after all and you now have two days off!

Day 11: Free Day
Welcome to your weekend. Today take it easy and treat you and your family to a wander around town or get back up there and take on your favourite mountain. Nothing officially planned for tonight.

Day 12: Free Day
Your second day off and you’ll be feeling good. If you skied yesterday, take today off. If you took yesterday off, take some family turns together. You’ll be impressed with how much the kids skiing has improved! We recommend at least one full rest day during this two day block.

Day 13: Skiing Snowmass
You guys know the routine now. Jump on the bus with Mum, Dad and the team and get ready for a big day at Snowmass. By now you’re skiing some more challenging runs and really improving your ability.

Adults: It’s back to Snowmass. Meet the team as usual on-snow at the Mall and have lunch at Sam’s Smokehouse. Finish the day with your favourite Snowmass run.

Day 14: Skiing Aspen Mountain
You’re back to Buttermilk to go bigger on the jumps and faster on the groomers. Get into the bumps so that you can challenge Mum and Dad on your next free day!

Adults: Ride the gondola and prepare for all the glades, steeps or groomers that you can handle. Lunch at the Sundeck and take in the stunning views of the Highland Bowl. No official après event this afternoon but there is always something happening at the base of the mountain at Ajax Tavern.

Day 15: Skiing Aspen Highlands
Kids: It’s your last day skiing today. Head back to your favourite mountain and ski all of your favourite runs with your new ski friends. After skiing today we’ll all have a big dinner party with some prizes for you all before saying goodbye. But don’t worry, we’ll see you next year!

Adults: Meet the team at the base of Highlands and decide. The Bowl? Deep Temerity? Scarlett’s bumps? High-speed groomers? Let’s do them all! We’ll have a final night dinner arranged in a private venue to celebrate with everyone from your trip.

Day 16: Departure Day
Check-out time is 10am. Your transfer to the airport will arrive promptly as this will have been pre-arranged. If you’re on a later flight we’ll help you store your bags until you’re ready to leave. Sadly, your Aspen adventure for this season has come to an end – unless you decide to stay on!
