For intermediate skiers, there’s no better way to experience Buttermilk than tackling the full Buttermilk Mountain top to bottom run. As part of our Aspen Snowmass Favourite Runs series, this route strings together Ridge Trail, Homestead Road, Lovers Lane, Lower Savo and Columbine into one smooth, confidence-building descent from summit to base.
Access Point
Start your adventure from the top of the Summit Express lift. Begin with the easy flow of Ridge Trail before turning right into Homestead Road, which opens out under the lift with wide, forgiving terrain.
Continue by following the High Road into Lovers Lane, where you can practice carving turns at your own pace. Cross the top of Midway Avenue, then drop into Lower Savo before gliding down Columbine all the way to the base.

The Experience
Buttermilk Mountain top to bottom is perfectly suited for solid skill progression. Each section flows naturally into the next, giving you the chance to practice linking turns, improve balance and build confidence and speed over longer distances.
Intermediates will find it exciting, rewarding and never intimidating. More advanced skiers will also enjoy cranking it up and it really is the perfect first run of the day for stronger skiers.
