Have you ever dreamed of skiing a seriously big mountain with no crowds? In Aspen, we often experience what it feels like to have the whole mountain to yourself.

As part of our Aspen Snowmass Favourite Runs series, this time we’re showcasing Aspen Mountain with no crowds. This easy to ski connection of trails – 1 & 2 Leaf, Silver Bell and Midnight – offers a beautifully flowing cruiser on the upper section of Aspen Mountain. Covering around one-third of Ajax’s famous vertical, it’s the ideal lap to get your day started or to enjoy at any time when you just want smooth turns and wide-open space.

Access Point

Unload from the Silver Queen Gondola (or Ajax Express lift) and swing immediately right onto 1 & 2 Leaf. This gentle trail sets the tone, with a mellow gradient that lets you ease into the run. When the trail opens out, swing gently left into Silver Bell and enjoy carving turns as you cross beneath the Ajax Express lift.

From there, continue straight to the slow signs and drop left again to link into the lower section of Midnight, which brings you right back to the Ajax Express for another lap.

The Experience

This is a run where rhythm and flow take over. The upper section of Aspen Mountain combines rolling pitches, wide turns and a forgiving fall line, making it a cruiser that suits almost every skier. Intermediates will find it confidence-building, while advanced skiers can simply let their skis run and enjoy the natural flow.

It’s also a run that reminds you how special it is to ski Aspen with no crowds – a world-famous mountain that still gives you moments of quiet and space.

  • Fresh grooming creates perfect corduroy for smooth turns.
  • You’re starting your day and want a relaxing, confidence-building warm-up.
