Nick has been skiing all his life and he first ventured to the ski resorts of Canada and the USA in 1991. In 1995 he founded Ski Aspen. He is a qualified ski instructor with Australian and Canadian certifications.
Nick is also an experienced mountaineer with numerous Himalayan summits under his belt, including Mt Everest. He also works as a leadership development consultant and keynote speaker. Nick’s passion is everything skiing and with 25 Aspen seasons under his belt has finally achieved ‘local’ status in this iconic Colorado ski town. Learn more about Nick.
After numerous winters in the Europe, the USA and Canada, Rob joined the Mt. Hotham Ski School in 1995 and Ski Aspen in 2009. He has Australian Professional Ski Instructors Alpine 3 certification and continues to update his skiing qualifications. A passion for instructing and helping guests to improve their skills underpins his approach. Whether it’s floating through the powder, carving up the groomers or swilling at après, Rob likes to make every moment count and is a favourite with our guests.
When the snow has gone, Rob is a ceramic artist working with wood fired pottery and exploring the parallel worlds of fire and ice.
Kate’s skiing career spans Europe, Canada, America, New Zealand, Japan and Australia. She has instructed in the UK and Europe and guided ski tours in St Anton, Austria. A ski instructor with British and Australian qualifications, Kate has taught at the Mt Hotham Ski School since 1999. She loves to see her guests taking the challenge, learning heaps and having fun.
Kate’s other life is in learning and development. She’s also a presenter at music festivals around Australia, and her sporting events experience includes the Olympics and Commonwealth Games. Kate’s passion is about people’s achievements, memorable travels and camaraderie.
Originally from Hobart in Australia, Chloe found her calling teaching skiing at Thredbo. She went on to spend numerous northern winters instructing at Vail, Whistler, Telluride and Copper Mountain, before settling on Aspen Snowmass as her USA ski home in 2013.
Chloe also worked as Coach and Manager of the Australian Aerials Ski Team from 2016-2018. She joined the Ski Aspen team in 2019.
Sevie La Roche
Sevie La Roche has just completed his 23rd season between Aspen Snowmass and Mt Hotham. Be it groomers, powder, steeps or bumps, Sevie knows Aspen like the back of his hand and is always able to match the right terrain to the ability of his students.
When he’s not skiing, you’ll often find Sevie in the skies above. A qualified pilot, Sevie will regularly fly from Aspen airport and travel to nearby cities or over the beautiful Aspen area on scenic flights. All Ski Aspen guests are welcome to join Sevie for a flight!
Since 2004, Attila has been a favourite with both staff and guests of Ski Aspen. Skiing throughout Australia and New Zealand from a young age, Attila’s love for the mountains took him to Mt. Buller where he learnt about the industry from the ground up – working in roles from ski hire to lift operations and risk management. Attila is a qualified APSI instructor who spends the Aussie winter teaching skiing at Mt Hotham.
Outside of Ski Aspen, Attila works as a helicopter crew member for the Emergency Services, including the Air Ambulance. His other interests include renovating, gardening, coffee and a nice glass of red!
Martina provides Ski Aspen with some Italian flare and her ski performance speaks for itself! Martina has achieved both Canadian instructing (CSIA 3) & CSCF race coaching qualifications and has a background of instructing and coaching in Canada. As a teenager, Martina was a competition GS ski racer. “I was actually a swimming athlete and had to give up skiing because of swimming… but I ended up giving up competitive swimming because I couldn’t see my life without snow!”
With a degree in geography science, Martina knows everything about climate phenomena – and is now our ‘go to’ for the heads up on the next powder day!
